Whitnall Youth Football/Cheer Program Guidelines 2010 Download Document
The Whitnall Youth Football/Cheerleading (WYF/C) program is a Whitnall School District community tackle football program affiliated with the All-American Youth Football League (AAYFL). The Whitnall School District is comprised of all of Hales Corners and parts of Greenfield and Franklin. In 1990, the WYF Program was established as a part of the AAYFL. The WYF consists of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade football and cheerleading teams. In 2008, the Whitnall Youth Football expanded to include 3rd and 4th grade football teams. This is a full contact football program, designed to develop players at an instructional level of play. The 3rd and 4th grade levels are part of our beginning/learning level teams. A weight limit is place on all Offensive backfield and receiver positions per the AAYFL guidelines. Players over the weight can still play, but not as an offensive back or receiver.
The Mission of Whitnall Youth Football and Cheer program:
The Whitnall Youth Football and Cheer program is committed to instilling Honesty, Loyalty, Integrity, Teamwork, Discipline, Sportsmanship, Respect, Leadership, Trust and Commitment in our young participants. We believe these values and virtues are important to the growth of all youths and to them become upstanding members of our community and society.
We will instill in our youth the challenge of competition, the joy of victory, the reality of defeat, the importance of commitment and the spirit of community.
Program Philosophy
- Whitnall Youth Football/Cheer Program provides a quality athletic experience in a safe environment that will aid in the development and growth of favorable habits and attitudes in all who participate.
- To encourage the student-athlete to achieve success academically as well as athetically.
- To make participation an experience that is fun, meaningful, and positive and in accoradance with the policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Wisconsin All American Youth Football League (AAYFL).
- During the first week of practice all players go through a required conditioning, agility and technique program to prepare players for the contact involved in football.

Coaching
The football players are instructed by volunteer youth oriented coaches who are sanctioned by the AAYFL, Certified and require a background check. Coaches are required to attend training/coaching clinics with the Program and Coaches Coordinators. Coaching is a high priority; those interested must be willing to commit to the necessary time to their team and players. Instrauctions for Our coaches per the WYF/C program by-laws will develop team rules which are fair for all participants. These rules for all WYF/C will help maintain discipline and order. Standard rules for all levels are:
- Players must attend scheduled pratices to guarantee their playing time.
- Players are required to weall all issued equipment from WYF.
The Cheerleading coaches are certified by the AAYCA.
WYF/C board President Mike Roberts and Vice President/Cheerleading Director Pattie Barutha are available to mediate if needed.
Questions/Complaints
It is important the WYF/C board and parents have open communication. Players or parents who have concerns about the program should talk to their respective Head Coach first. If you have general comments, concerns or a problem, please bring them to the monthly Board meetings. This is the best way to have open discussion and dialogue brought to everyone's attention.
